PREFACE

On what do you base your belief about the operations of the demons?

Many Christians base their beliefs about demons on occultist experiences they had or what the demons taught them before they repented or before they were delivered. Also, many Christians take such conflicting and unconfirmed stories and “testimonies” as credible insights for knowing how to deal with demons. This is the biggest deception in the Church today. Others base their beliefs about demonic operations on the speculations of some “Deliverance Ministers” derived from confabulations and hallucinations of demon possessed persons, even though these are strange to the Scripture. Still others base their beliefs about demons on the superstitions of their tribal or social cultures. Some believe in nothing.

However, a remnant seeks to study the inspired Scripture as the only source of every necessary infallible truth, revealed to be believed about the nature, state and operations of the devil and his demonic hordes. This is what this book sets out to do. For such bible believing Christians, any unbiblical concept as mentioned above, is deception and delusion (2Thes 2:10-11), human tradition and philosophy (Col 2:8), error and ignorance (Matt 22:29), pretentious, rudimentary and useless (Col 2:18-23), enslaving and beggarly (Gal 4:9).

We must be aware of the latter day explosion of doctrines of demons and deceitful spirits, as well as the predicted maximum deception and strong delusion in times such as this. Better to learn from our victorious Father and Friend than strategize by what we learn from our vilest foe.

Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to deceitful spirits, and doctrines of demons;  1Ti 4:1 (KJV2000)

2Th 2:9-12 (KJV2000)

(9)  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

(10)  And with all deception of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

(11)  And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

(12)  That they all might be condemned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS DELIVERANCE?

Deliverance” means “release” from bondage or “rescue” from danger. Christian deliverance works through proclamation of the Word of God not rituals or signs and symbols. Spiritual bondage or stronghold is a mind twist. Christian deliverance is a mind repair by making known what Christ has obtained for humanity. Though we must be prayerful and sensitive in all things, yet Deliverance is actually announced or “preached to” not administered or “performed on” those in bondage.

Deliverance does NOT consist in particular rites, symbols, gestures, movements and use of material elements such as oils, water, etc. Deliverance consists in impartation of the Truth of God’s Word through proclamation, preaching or declaration of what Christ’s Name offers, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to any one who is in bondage or oppression of the devil.

Luk 4:17-21 (ISV)

(17)  the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,

(18)  "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set oppressed people free,

(19)  and to announce the year of the Lord's favor."

(20)  Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.

(21)  Then he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

Both Jews and Gentiles are ritual-oriented, so God’s power through preaching is difficult for all of us to appreciate. Our minds need to be renewed by God’s Word to shift away from our ordinary mentality into the mentality of God as revealed in His Word. This is important because due to lack of this knowledge, many a deliverance end up putting people in bondage to what Saint Paul calls conscience of the idol” (1Cor 8:7). This debilitating and defiling mentality attributes the physical nature to the demons, rather than the immoral tendencies. We must however, not be too simplistic about this.

1Co 1:18-24 (KJV2000)

(18)  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.

(19)  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

(20)  Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

(21)  For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

(22)  For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

(23)  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

(24)  But unto them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

1Co 8:5-9 (KJV)

(5)  For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

(6)  But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

(7)  Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

(8)  But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

(9)  But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

Notice that Deliverance is by counselling not by ceremony, a declaration not a regulation, by the Word of God not by symbolic rituals, mainly by instruction not only by intercession, by word of command not by beggarly complaint. Deliverance comes by a change of imagination, change of knowledge, and change of thought based on God’s Word, Works and Ways. One is delivered when one is equipped with the good news of what Christ has accomplished and the oppressing agent or instrument evicted with authoritative command in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are in bondage when our minds serve as strongholds or fortresses that harbour, believe, protect, and propagate the lies and false claims of the Devil. We are free when we hear, believe, obey and propagate God’s truth instead.

2Co 10:4-6 (ISV)

(4)  For the weapons of our warfare are not those of the flesh. Instead, they have the power of God to demolish fortresses. We tear down arguments

(5)  and every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive in order to obey Christ.

(6)  We are ready to punish every act of disobedience when your obedience is complete.

Joh 8:31-36 (ISV)

(31)  So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in him, "If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples.

(32)  And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

... “....

(36)  So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!"

Deliverance is the term commonly used today to refer to both exorcism of demonic influence by the power of the Holy Spirit and release of someone from falsehood through proclamation and acceptance of the truth of God’s Word. As a matter of fact, at conversion, every Christian experienced deliverance from spiritual death and satanic bondage through Reception of the Gospel, Repentance from sin and Remission of sin by Christ.

Eph 2:1-6 (KJV2000)

(1)  And you has he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins:

(2)  In which in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:

(3)  Among whom also we all had our behavior in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

(4)  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,

(5)  Even when we were dead in sins, has made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)

(6)  And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Col 1:12-14 (KJV2000)

(12)  Giving thanks unto the Father, who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

(13)  Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

(14)  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Meanwhile, we still have to retain our deliverance through vigilant, steadfast Resistance of the Devil.

Jas 4:7 (KJV2000)

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1Pe 5:8-9 (KJV2000)

(8)  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:

(9)  Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Exorcism is the eviction (casting out) of discerned demons from persons or places by the power of the Holy Spirit, with the word of authority commanded in the Name of Jesus Christ. In the Church today, Exorcism has been turned into a ritual which it is not.

Without regeneration and faith, based on God’s Word, exorcism and deliverance or even healing (John 5:14), are of transient benefit, but truth-based renewal procures lasting results. From Christ’s explanation, mere Exorcism is very much practiced by occultists because it actually furthers the cause and course of Satan’s kingdom, since it provokes the evicted demon to work harder towards greater demonization. Deliverance should not only be from Satan but must also be unto God.

Mat 12:43-45 (KJV2000)

(43)  When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

(44)  Then he said, I will return into my house from where I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished.

(45)  Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

WHAT IS DEMONOLOGY?

Demonology” is the study of, and the belief in the biblical, eternal truth about demons and their activities. At this point, it is necessary to caution that demonology for Christians must only mean what the Bible says about demons. Not superstitions and speculations about the spirit world. Not a study or research in occultism and parapsychology. Never should it be the testimonies of delivered brethren – who mistake delusion for reality. It should always be the Testimony of the Word of God. Christians must be careful what they believe and propagate about demons.

The Gospel (Good News) of Christ is the message of deliverance/salvation from sin, Satan and evil (i.e. the Flesh, the Devil and the World Jas 4:4; 1Jn 2:15-16) through Christ, for all people, if they repent and believe.

Act 26:18 (ISV)

You will open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from Satan's control to God, so that they might receive the forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

Gal 5:1 (ISV)

Christ has set us free so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. So keep on standing firm in it, and stop attaching yourselves to the yoke of slavery again.

Chapter 2

THE PREDICAMENT OF HUMANITY

The Creator is perfect and does not need to attain further worth or fullness in His Being and Reality nor could His worth be diminished. The Creator cannot be tempted in choice or be limited in power, God is God: He cannot be bound in sovereignty or be corrupted in nature.

God created all things good but subject to change; otherwise the creature would have been same as or equal with the Creator. All Creation is good, yet all creation is made finite with the capacity to be improvable and/or destructible. All intelligent creatures (Human and Angelic) are probationary and subject to transformation to a fuller or lesser worth, after it has been subjected to making a choice, right or wrong. The creation, animate or inanimate, intelligent or brute has capacity to develop or degenerate conditionally.

The possibility of evil is therefore a risky problematic of creation, but the certainty of glory through Christ is its ultimate consolation and purpose. Creation (by the spoken Word) and Redemption (by the Living Word) are risks God has undertaken in order to bring the Human Creature to partake in the Creator’s Divine Nature. What love God has for humankind!

2Pe 1:2-4 (KJV2000)

(2)  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

(3)  According as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us to glory and virtue:

(4)  By which are given unto us exceedingly great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

As intelligent creatures, Adam and Eve were created originally in the image of God, innocent and free from sin, but also responsible to either make right choices (i.e. overcome temptations) before attaining fuller spiritual power and spiritual fruit; or make wrong choices (i.e. yield to temptation) leading to moral reprobation. This responsibility of humans is doorway to perfection as well as loophole to destruction.

Adam and Eve were made in God’s “image” (i.e. having rational, moral, personal and spiritual capacities, with responsibility and authority to rule on earth and eventually through Christ, also reign with Him in the millennium Rev 20:6, and triumph in eternity Rev 22:5). Humanity’s probation in Eden was their opportunity to attain fullness but it was also the chance for other creatures, especially the Devil after his fall, to beguile them into ruin.

Gen 2:15-17 (ESV)

(15)  The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

(16)  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,

(17)  but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

Notwithstanding, humanity did not lose their position as God's caretakers with power to subdue and authority to dominate the natural, created world called “the Earth and the fullness thereof”. The problem is that the Devil has deceitfully crept in as an illegal occupant - a squatter! - along with his immoral products, property and patterns called “the world and the things of the world”. Humankind should not be confused about their God-given position nor be corrupted by these worldly innovations of Satan, but rather be focused on pleasing God. As God’s image and agents we should always choose good (faith, love, truth and holiness) and always reject evil (unbelief, hatred, falsehood and lusts). This is the reasonable way for humans to keep themselves in union with and pleasing/acceptable to God, and thereby remain above all natural creation of God and evil innovations of Satan.

Rom 12:1-2 (ISV)

(1)  I therefore urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercies, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God, for this is the reasonable way for you to worship.

(2)  Do not be conformed to this world, but continually be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God's will is-what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.

If humans live outside Christ in disobedience to God, they subject themselves to God’s wrath and (according to God’s Word) lose their birthright to become subject to the Devil.

Eph 2:1-5 (ISV)

(1)  You used to be dead because of your offenses and sins,

(2)  in which you once lived according to the ways of this present world and according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now active in those who are disobedient.

(3)  Indeed, all of us once behaved like them in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of our flesh and senses. By nature we deserved wrath, just like everyone else.

(4)  But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love for us

(5)  even when we were dead because of our offenses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

The “World” has three shades of meaning in the Bible:

(i) the terrestrial world i.e. The Earth globe with its fauna and flora, which are of the Lord’s handiwork (Ps 24:1-2; 37:9-11) and for the inheritance of the saints (Gen 1:28; Matt 5:5): this shall be redeemed from bondage and renewed eventually (Rom 8:21; 2Pet 3:12-13);

(ii) the human world i.e. The Inhabitants of the Society for whom Christ was sent to die and save (John 3:16); and

(iii) the immoral world i.e. The Mundane concerns and ungodly value systems of this age which are of the devil and shall pass away (1John 2:15-17).

Chapter 3

THE SALVATION FOR HUMANITY

The Fall of Adam and Eve enslaved Humanity to sin with the resultant vulnerability to temptations and evil. In Christ God took up the human nature as the Second Adam to redeem us from this bondage and disadvantage. As Adam was our condemnation by his failure, so Christ is now our salvation by His victory.

Rom 5:12-19 (ISV)

(12)  Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so death spread to everyone, because all have sinned.

(13)  Certainly sin was in the world before the law was given, but no record of sin is kept when there is no law.

(14)  Nevertheless, death ruled from the time of Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the same way Adam did when he disobeyed. He is a type of the one who would come.

(15)  But God's free gift is not like Adam's offense. For if many people died as the result of one man's offense, how much more have God's grace and the free gift given through the kindness of one man, Jesus Christ, been showered on many people!

(16)  Nor can the free gift be compared to what came through the man who sinned. For the sentence that followed one man's offense brought condemnation, but the free gift brought justification, even after many offenses.

(17)  For if, through one man, death ruled because of that man's offense, how much more will those who receive such overflowing grace and the gift of righteousness rule in life because of one man, Jesus Christ!

(18)  Consequently, just as one offense resulted in condemnation for everyone, so one act of righteousness results in justification and life for everyone.

(19)  For just as through one man's disobedience many people were made sinners, so also through one man's obedience many people will be made righteous.

Man’s bondage began by doubting God and believing the Devil (Gen 3:1-7). Man’s freedom could only be solved by believing God and doubting Satan and all. Man’s bondage began with Adam who thitherto knew no sin but fell into sin when tempted. Man’s freedom must begin with Christ who, alone ever since, knew no sin (2Cor 5:21; Heb 4:15) and did not fall into sin when tempted. We take part in Adam’s bondage when we are born to be like him; we take part in Christ’s freedom when we believe and are born again to be like Him.

1Pe 2:21-25 (ISV)

(21)  This is, in fact, what you were called to do, because Christ also suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his steps.

(22)  "He never committed a sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."

(23)  When he was insulted, he did not retaliate. When he suffered, he did not threaten but made it his habit to commit the matter to the one who judges fairly.

(24)  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to those sins and live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

(25)  For you were like sheep that kept going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

1Jn 3:4-10 (ISV)

(4)  Everyone who keeps living in sin also practices disobedience. In fact, sin is disobedience.

(5)  You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and there is not any sin in him.

(6)  No one who remains in him goes on sinning. The one who goes on sinning hasn't seen him or known him.

(7)  Little children, don't let anyone deceive you. The person who practices righteousness is righteous, just as he is righteous.

(8)  The person who practices sin belongs to the evil one, because the devil has been sinning since the beginning. The reason that the Son of God was revealed was to destroy the works of the devil.

(9)  No one who has been born from God practices sin, because God's seed abides in him. Indeed, he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born from God.

(10)  This is how God's children and the devil's children are distinguished. No person who fails to practice righteousness and to love his brother is from God.

Through His life, Jesus has won back for humanity, their lost victory over sin and temptation.

By His death, Christ made atonement for the sins of all humanity, whosoever believes. In His resurrection, He secured the only hope of eternity for all who are saved through faith in His Name.

Rom 5:6-10 (ISV)

(6)  For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

(7)  For it is rare for anyone to die for a righteous person, though somebody might be brave enough to die for a good person.

(8)  But God demonstrates his love for us by the fact that Christ died for us while we were still sinners.

(9)  Now that we have been justified by his blood, how much more will we be saved from wrath through him!

(10)  For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life!

Apart from Christ, humanity has no other guaranteed, adequate and legitimate escape from damnation, whatever they may do, mentally, morally or religiously. Idolatry and philosophy at their best have been mere groping in the dark.

Act 10:40-43 (KJV2000)

(40)  Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly;

(41)  Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

(42)  And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he who was ordained of God to be the Judge of the living and dead.

(43)  To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believes in him shall receive remission of sins.

Act 17:24-31 (MSG)

(24)  "The God who made the world and everything in it, this Master of sky and land, doesn't live in custom-made shrines

(25)  or need the human race to run errands for him, as if he couldn't take care of himself. He makes the creatures; the creatures don't make him.

(26)  Starting from scratch, he made the entire human race and made the earth hospitable, with plenty of time and space for living

(27)  so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him. He doesn't play hide-and-seek with us. He's not remote; he's near.

(28)  We live and move in him, can't get away from him! One of your poets said it well: 'We're the God-created.'

(29)  Well, if we are the God-created, it doesn't make a lot of sense to think we could hire a sculptor to chisel a god out of stone for us, does it?

(30)  "God overlooks it as long as you don't know any better--but that time is past. The unknown is now known, and he's calling for a radical life-change.

(31)  He has set a day when the entire human race will be judged and everything set right. And he has already appointed the judge, confirming him before everyone by raising him from the dead."

Even the tutorial guardianship through the Old Testament Law and the Prophets could best bring someone so far into the shadow of mere preparatory religion.

Gal 3:22-28 (ISV)

(22)  But the Scripture has put everything under the power of sin, so that what was promised by the faithfulness of Christ might be given to those who believe.

(23)  Now before this faith came, we were held in custody and carefully guarded under the law in preparation for the faith that was to be revealed.

(24)  And so the law was our guardian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith.

(25)  But now that this faith has come, we are no longer under the control of a guardian.

(26)  For all of you are God's children through faith in Christ Jesus.

(27)  Indeed, all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

(28)  A person is no longer a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a male or a female, because all of you are one in Christ Jesus.

None of these gropings or preparations could eternally deliver or save Humanity without Christ. This is the whole revelation in the whole of the Scriptures. This is the Gospel (Good News) of Christ unto salvation for all.  Jesus Himself put it this way:

Joh 3:13-18 (ISV)

(13)  "No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

(14)  Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

(15)  so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

(16)  "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his unique Son so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but have eternal life.

(17)  For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

(18)  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God's unique Son.

NOTE: The Old Testament believers (Adam, Job, Moses, David, Elijah, Daniel, Joshua the High Priest, John the Baptist, etc) had authority as elect servants, over the earth and its fullness but no authority as sons, over the invading devil and demons. They depended on the sonship authority of the Angels (Job 1:6-8; Dan 10:13; Zech 3:1-3; Jude 9; Acts 7:35; Heb 3:2-6). The New Testament believers, however are greater (Lk 7:28), having authority both as elect servants and begotten/adopted sons, given to them by Christ and in Christ over all the powers of the enemy. With this sonship authority in Christ, Christians bind and cast demons with the proclaimed Word (Matt 16:19; 18:18; Lk 9:1; 10:19; John 1:12).

Chapter 4

THE FALL OF SATAN

God created Eve last and declared that the whole creation at that time, including ALL the Angels, “was very good” (Gen 1:31). It seems the Devil (or some of his territorial principality demons) was then a perfectly adorned Edenic Cherub before he fell into sin of pride. He felt he was too good a super-creature to serve humanity; he would rather rule and be served.

1Ti 3:6 (ESV)

He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Pride led Satan into rebellion (together with all his demons) and so he was condemned and demoted from heaven by God, as revealed to the Prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel in similarly re-enacted irony against the principalities of Babylon and Tyre respectively (Christ used same irony for Capernaum Lk 10:14-15):

Isa 14:12-15 (ESV)

(12)  "How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!

(13)  You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;

(14)  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'

(15)  But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.

Eze 28:11-19 (ESV)

(11)  Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me:

(12)  "Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord GOD: "You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

(13)  You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared.

(14)  You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.

(15)  You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you.

(16)  In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

(17)  Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.

(18)  By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who saw you.

(19)  All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever."

Peter the Apostle and Jude the brother of the Lord alluded to the fall of rebellious angels in the primeval time (2Pet 2:4; Jude 6). From all these allusions and recurrent re-enactments in Scripture, we could deduce that Satan (like his demons) fell after the creation of Eve. Being driven from God and pursuant to his rebellion, he moved to recruit or ruin humanity by beguiling Adam and Eve so they would doubt and disobey God. The beguiling idea was to seek advantage or advancement through transgression. What a fallacy, that divinity is attained by combining good and evil! This in turn led to Adam and Eve, with all their descendants, being put under divine judgement of banishment, hardship and death:

Gen 3:1-8 (ESV)

(1)  Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?"

(2)  And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,

(3)  but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"

(4)  But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.

(5)  For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

(6)  So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.

(7)  Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

(8)  And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Today humankind still remains under the sway of the tendency to doubt and disobey God and the illusion to think that advantage is best gained through falsehood, or that greater worth demands capacity for evil, contrary to God’s Word (Rom 3:23; Gal 3:22). This depravity is as original as with Adam and Eve (Rom 5:12) as well as inborn in all humans (Psa 51:5; Rom 3:9). This Flesh Nature can only be counteracted by believers in Christ who walk in the Spirit.

Gal 5:16-17 (ISV)

(16)  So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will never fulfill the desires of the flesh.

(17)  For what the flesh wants is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, and so you do not do what you want to do.

Chapter 5

THE NAMES OF SATAN

The word “satan” originally meant “enemy” or “adversary”. It was used for any enemy, human or spiritual. When it is preceded by the definite article it refers specifically to the Devil as seen in:

Rev 12:7-10 (ESV)

(7)  Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back,

(8)  but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.

(9)  And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

(10)  And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

Satan means adversary, enemy, ambusher.

The Devil means accuser, slanderer, confuser.

The Dragon means wicked monster.

The Serpent refers to the beguiler of Adam and Eve.

Belial means the worthless or wicked (2Cor 6:15)

Apollyon (Grk) or Abaddon (Heb) mean destroyer (Rev 9:11).

Beelzebub means the stinger-fly god, known as the leader of the demons (Matt 12:24). Beelzebul means the stinking-dung (foul) god.

“Lucifer” (a misnomer for the Devil since the Middle Ages) means light-shiner. Today, the Devil is no longer Lucifer as such, except by disguise (2Cor 11:14).

Satan is also titled: the prince of the power of the air (Eph 2:2) and the prince or god of this world (John 16:11; 2Cor 4:4).

NOTE that the word “Lucifer” (light-shiner or phosphorescent) was originally, the name given to the brightest planetary star in the sky (Venus) by Latin astronomers. This super star was acquired by (dedicated to) the Roman goddess Venus or the Babylonian goddess Ishtar in ancient times. Before Saint Jerome (Eusebius Hieronymus) used this word to translate Isa 14:12, “lucifer” as a word, was never the name of a god or an angel (good or bad), but it was rather a common name answered by both Christians and pagans. It meant “bright star”, the male counterpart for Stellar which means “star” or “dazzling”. In fact the name of the very rigorous Bishop of Cagliari in Sardinia (about 350-370 AD) was Bishop Lucifer Calaritanus. A century later however, while translating the Bible into Latin (i.e. The Vulgate 405 AD), St. Jerome used the word “lucifer” (i.e. light-shiner) to render the word “bright-star” (Hebrew= heylel) in Isaiah 14:12, where it symbolised the “chief demonic principality” over Babylon before its fall. Since then, from the Middle Ages, people began to refer to Satan as Lucifer.

Satan, as a fallen angel, is no longer qualified to be called the Bright Anointed Edenic Cherub (Ezek 28:13), nor Lucifer the Bright Morning Star (Isa 14:12). He still falsely continues to claim to be the Illuminator and to disguise himself as the Angel of Light when he is actually the angel of darkness:

2Co 11:13-15 (ISV)

(13)  Such people are false apostles, dishonest workers who are masquerading as apostles of Christ.

(14)  And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

(15)  So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their doom will match their deeds!

Jesus Christ and His Church have now taken over as the Anointed and the Morning Stars:

Mat 2:2 (KJV2000)  Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Luk 1:76-79 (KJV2000)

(76)  And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Highest: for you shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

(77)  To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

(78)  Through the tender mercy of our God; by which the dawn from on high has visited us,

(79)  To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

2Pe 1:19 (KJV2000)  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Rev 2:26-29 (KJV2000)

(26)  And he that overcomes, and keeps my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

(27)  And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to pieces: even as I received of my Father.

(28)  And I will give him the morning star.

(29)  He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.

Rev 22:16 (KJV2000)  I Jesus have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Chapter 6

THE POWER AND LIMITATION OF SATAN

Gen 1:27-31 (KJV2000)

(27)  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

(28)  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

(29)  And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, which has seed in its fruit; to you it shall be for food.

(30)  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green plant for food: and it was so.

(31)  And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Dan 7:27 KJV2000

(27)  And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Rev 5:10 KJV2000

(10)  And have made us unto our God a kingdom and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

While God created humans in His own image to exercise dominion on earth, He created Angels to give Him homage/worship ministration (Greek= leitourgeo) while they give the Saints attendant’s/waiter’s ministration (Greek= diakoneo).

Heb 1:6-7 (KJV2000)

(6)  And again, when he brings the firstbegotten into the world, he says, And let all the angels of God worship him.

(7)  And of the angels he says, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers (leitourgeo) a flame of fire.

Heb 1:13-14 (KJV2000)

(13)  But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?

(14)  Are they not all ministering (leitourgeo) spirits, sent forth to minister (diakoneo) to them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Among the Holy/Elect Angels of God (who are all liturgical worship spirits) we have:

1. Multipurpose Assignment Cherubim (multiform working and warring Angels) like Archangel Michael (Jude 9) the warrior Prince, Gabriel the heavenly Announcer (Dan 9:21-22), angelic warrior legions (Matt. 26:53), destroying or plague angels that carry out divine judgements (2Sam 24:16; Rev 14, 15 an 16) and other ministering angels who are sent to represent (Matt. 18:10; Rev 2 and 3), appear to (Acts 27:23), accompany and minister as diaconate waiters to “the heirs of salvation” which is the Church. The Church is therefore in company with the Angels (Heb 12:22).

2. Apparently, there are also Special Adoration Seraphim (fiery worship and six-winged Angels Isa 6:2, 6; Rev 4:8) always before God’s throne, worshiping Him as Thrice-Holy, the Blessed Trinity.

1Co 11:4-10 ISV

(4)  Every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head dishonors his head,

(5)  and every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, which is the same as having her head shaved.

(6)  So if a woman does not cover her head, she should cut off her hair. If it is a disgrace for a woman to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her own head.

(7)  A man should not cover his own head, because he exists as God's image and glory. But the woman is man's glory.

(8)  For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;

(9)  and man was not created for woman, but woman for man.

(10)  This is why a woman should have authority over her own head: because of the angels.

Heb 12:22-24 (KJV2000)

(22)  But you are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

(23)  To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, who are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

(24)  And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel.

The Devil is the head of all demons which are evil spirits that have fallen from their former angelic estate of worship and ministry unto God, to which the Church is also called. They now seek to be worshipped and be ministered to by carving out estates or realms of illegal authority.  Within these limitations, the Devil seems to have also organized these foul spirits (Mk 9:25), unclean spirits (Matt 10:1), evil spirits (1Sam 16:23; Lk 7:21), lying spirits (1Kin 22:23) which are fallen angels (Rev 12:9) called demons (Deut 32:17; Lk 8:2, 30) to suit his purpose. From Eph 1:21; 2:2; 3:10; and 6:12, one could classify satanic demons into:

1.       celestial command “spiritual wickedness in heavenly places operating the “powers of the air”: i.e. Planetary/astrological hosts called thrones, dominions, ‘mights/forces and powers (of the air, of heaven and of some constellations Matt 24:29; Rev 12:4) [Mystics describe up to 7 or 9 hierarchies] and

2.       terrestrial rank and file “rulers of the darkness of this world manipulating the “course of this world order”: i.e. Territorial/national princes (Dan 10:20) called principalities; also manipulative familiars (2Kin 21:6) which are witchcraft/mediumistic/occult guide spirits; as well as person-tormentors like possessors, legions (Matt 5:15) and unclean malingering vagabonds (Lk 11:24-25) which include madness demons, perversion demons, sickness demons, misfortune demons, murderous demons, etc.

Eph 6:12 (KJV2000)

(12)  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.

NOTE that principalities and powers in the Scripture sometimes refer to human governmental systems with which Christians are to cooperate (Tit 3:1; Rom 13:1-3). “Powers” in the Scripture translates either Gk: exousia= executive rights (authorities) or Gk: dunamis= energetic mights (forces).

Apart from tormenting possessives, vagabonds, legions and manipulative familiars which are person oriented spirits that attach to individuals, most of the demonic principalities and powers are usually worshipped as mythical idols or observed as astrological dominions, nationally and internationally, respectively.

2Ch 33:1-6 (KJV2000)

(1)  Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:

(2)  But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the nations, which the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

(3)  For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he raised up altars for Baalim, and made idol poles, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them.

(4)  Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be forever.

(5)  And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

(6)  And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he practiced soothsaying, and used sorcery, and used witchcraft, and dealt with mediums, and with wizards: he did much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

Eph 1:19-23 (KJV2000)

(19)  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

(20)  Which he performed in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

(21)  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come:

(22)  And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

(23)  Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.

Col 1:12-19 (KJV2000)

(12)  Giving thanks unto the Father, who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

(13)  Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

(14)  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

(15)  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation:

(16)  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

(17)  And he is before all things, and by him all things are held together.

(18)  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

(19)  For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;

The Devil, being under judgement is bound with great limitations. While tempting Christ, he laid claim to the fashionable vainglory that rules the corrupt trendy world (Matt 4:8-9; Lk 4:5-7). The evil darkness, deceit and wickedness that rule the sinful social world order were attributed to him by Christ and his Apostles (Jon 12:31; 14:30; 16:11). This sinful world order being disobedient to God is under death sentence and God’s wrath, yet eternal life and the grace of God are available to persons controlled by such disobedience, if they should repent and believe in Christ:

Eph 2:1-8 (KJV2000)

(7)  That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

(8)  For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

The created earth and its fullness as well as the inhabited natural world, though available to the Devil as God permits (Lk 22:53), has always been attributed to and claimed by God for His meek Saints:

Psa 24:1-2 (KJV2000)

(1)  [A Psalm of David.] The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

(2)  For he has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

Psa 37:9-11 (KJV2000)

(9)  For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

(10)  For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

(11)  But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Chapter 7

THE MANIFOLD JUDGMENTS ON SATAN

While Humankind has seen progressively better and better redemption, Satan has seen progressively graver and graver judgments. While the Saints expect more glory, the Devil awaits more doom. What are these stages of doom?

1. The fall/demotion from being the Anointed Cherub/Lucifer to becoming the deceitful Serpent before the fall of Man.

Eze 28:14-15 (KJV2000)

(14)  You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set you so: you were upon the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

(15)  You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you.

Notice that the created world was not cursed when Satan fell. It was the fall of man that led to the fall of the created world. The creation is still waiting for the full redemption of humanity when it will also regain its freedom. This will be in the Regeneration of the Millennium, when Christ shall come again to raise the Saints and reign with them, while keeping the Devil incarcerated in the abyss.

Mat 19:27-30 (KJV2000)

(27)  Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed you; what shall we have therefore?

(28)  And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

(29)  And everyone that has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

(30)  But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Rom 8:19-22 (KJV2000)

(19)  For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.

(20)  For the creation was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope,

(21)  Because the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

(22)  For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

2. The curse of disablement on the Serpent after the fall of Man at Eden.

Gen 3:14-15 (KJV2000)

(14)  And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life:

(15)  And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

This curse did not remove the permission to go before God to accuse us in the presence of other good angels, to move to and fro, to bruise the heels of children of Eve (i.e. torment the godless and tempt the godly Job 1:6-12; Zech 3:1-3) in the Old Testament dispensation.

3. The enchaining and incarceration of antediluvian rebellious angels, who after leaving their liturgical/diaconate ministerial estate with Satan to occupy dominion positions, were further deceived by the Devil to do some extreme wickedness, beyond the estate permitted by God. These demons are still reserved in the abyss, pending the final judgement in hell fire (2Pet 2:4-5).

Jud 1:6 (KJV2000)

And the angels who kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

This has taught Satan not to send his demons on assignments that would make them end up in the abyss, but to only tempt humans or oppose the Angels trembling within God’s permission (Job 1:12; 2:6; Zech 3:1-3; LK 22:31; Jas 2:9).

4. The binding that disarmed Satan, in order to take away his spoils/captives (Lk 11:21-22; Matt 12:29). This was the purpose of Christ’s earthly ministry.

1Jn 3:8 (KJV2000)

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

5. The banishing from heaven (Jn 12:31; Rev 12:9-10) and subjugation of Satan under Christ’s disciples (Lk 9:1; Matt 17:20; 18:18), through the Cross of Christ (Heb 2:14). This is the phase where we are today in the New Testament Church. For all believers in Christ today, the devil himself is despoiled (disarmed, disallowed and degraded) and his works are destroyed, but his demonic and human agents are still actively subject to him.

Luk 10:14-19 (KJV2000)

(14)  But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

(15)  And you, Capernaum, which are exalted to heaven, shall be thrust down to hades.

(16)  He that hears you hears me; and he that despises you despises me; and he that despises me despises him that sent me.

(17)  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us through your name.

(18)  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

(19)  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Col 2:14-15 (KJV2000)

(14)  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

(15)  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Today, as Christ is awaited to return from heaven (to raise/change and rapture the saints to Himself, defeat the Antichrist and reign in the Millennium 1Cor 15:51-53; 1Thes 4:15-17), the Devil still has some time to exert his final, futile effort (Acts 3:19-21; Rev 12:5, 12; 2Thes 2:7-8). Therefore, he intensifies his evil work of deception in the children of disobedience and through his messengers (2Thes 2:8-12; Eph 2:2). He still has a short time left to: tempt (1Cor 7:5; 1Thes 3:5), buffet (2Cor 12:7), accuse to sift (Lk 22:31), intimidate (1Pet 5:8), hinder (1Thes 2:18), and deceive (Rev 12:9-11), as he wages his futile war against the Saints.

Before Christ’s Advent, in the worst of times during the Great Tribulation, the earth and its wilderness with other created nature, though yet shortly under the curse, shall be miraculously used by God to protect the Saints as He did for the Exodus Israelites:

Rev 12:10-17 (KJV2000)

(10)  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.

(11)  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death.

(12)  Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil has come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time.

(13)  And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman who brought forth the male child.

(14)  And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

(15)  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.

(16)  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

(17)  And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Humanity is the rightful, God ordained caretaker and remains the beneficiary of the earth (Gen 1:28; Matt 5:5), but Satan has illegally invaded the earth, confused and outsmarted the fallen humanity and aggressively corrupts the society with his evil “world” order (i.e. lusts, systems, values, sorceries and demons). However, while the Lord’s created “earth-world”, now under His curse, shall be delivered and renewed (Isa 65:17; Rom 8:21; 2Pet 3:13), the devil’s immoral “world-order”, which has never belonged to God nor ever will, shall pass-away (1John 2:16-17).

Since Christ has bound the strong man, his mobile agents are vulnerable to the Saints (Mark 3:27; Lk 11:21-26). The Saints are now enlightened and empowered to resist the Devil and set him to flee (Jas 4:7; 1Pet 5:8-9); spoil his demonic agents and cast them out (Matt 10:1; Lk 10:18-19); smash their gates and pull down their strongholds (1Cor 10:3-6); and overcome them by:

#  the Blood by which Satan’s accusations are nullified, thereby disarming and disgracing the devil as well as destroying his works (Rev 12:11);

Col 2:13-15 (ISV)

(13)  Even when you were dead because of your offenses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with him when he forgave us all of our offenses,

(14)  having erased the charges that were brought against us with their decrees that were hostile to us. He took those charges away when he nailed them to the cross.

(15)  And when he had disarmed the rulers and the authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in the cross.

#  the Word by which Satan’s suggestions are countered, his deception is exposed and his stranglehold  is neutralised (Rev 1:9; 19:10) and by

#  the Holy Spirit Who empowers us as SONS (not servants) far above Satan’s powers (John 1:12; Rom 8:14-17; Gal 4:1-9).

 Eph 1:13-22 (GNB)

(13)  And you also became God's people when you heard the true message, the Good News that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ, and God put his stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit he had promised.

(14)  The Spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has promised his people, and this assures us that God will give complete freedom to those who are his. Let us praise his glory!

(15)  For this reason, ever since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God's people,

(16)  I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers

(17)  and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.

(18)  I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people,

(19)  and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength

(20)  which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.

(21)  Christ rules there above all heavenly rulers, authorities, powers, and lords; he has a title superior to all titles of authority in this world and in the next.

(22)  God put all things under Christ's feet and gave him to the church as supreme Lord over all things.

This overcoming power of the Saints over Satan’s roar, wiles and agents is sustained through a sober, vigilant, biblically obedient and prayerful lifestyle:

Mar 9:28-29 (KJV2000)

(28)  And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

(29)  And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

6. The temporary release of incarcerated demons from abyss to torment the wicked during the Great Tribulation reign of the Antichrist, after the Saints have been protectively sealed. (NOTE THAT THE SAINTS ARE SAVED BY BEING SEALED NOT BY BEING RAPTURED AWAY AS IS OFTEN WISHFULLY BELIEVED BY MANY COWARDLY CHRISTIANS):

Rev 9:1-11 (KJV2000)

(1)  And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

(2)  And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

(3)  And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

(4)  And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men who have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

(5)  And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a man.

(6)  And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

(7)  And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

(8)  And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

(9)  And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.

(10)  And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

(11)  And they had a king over them, who is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue he has the name Apollyon.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

7. The “1000yr” quarantine of Satan in the abyss after the Great Tribulation and 1000yrs of subduing, dominating and inheriting the Earth by the Saints (This is the MARRIAGE SUPPER Rev 19:7-9; Matt 25:1-13), The Great Tribulation shall be terminated by the power and glory of the Second Coming or Advent (i.e. Parousia/Appearing/Revelation) of Christ (2Thes 2:5-8). He will destroy the Antichrist Empire and capture the Devil at the Armageddon battle (Rev 16:12-18; 19:11-21). Then Christ and His Saints shall reign in the Millennium.

Rev 20:1-3 (KJV2000)

(1)  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

(2)  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

(3)  And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little while.

The Millennium fulfils God’s purpose for creating man on the earth, despite all odds. The millennial administrative throne-camp or headquarters, from which the resurrected Saints shall rule the earth together with Christ by iron sceptre, will be the New Jerusalem bridal city, which will come down from heaven (Rev 20:4-9; 21:2-22:5). The heavenly New Jerusalem is a mind-boggling, ornamented 5million sq. km. Mega-fortress, larger than half of USA or five-and-half times the size of Nigeria!

8. Post-millennial temporary release of the Devil for final commotion of the Magog revolt in which he will again be defeated and captured. After his release, Satan shall mobilise all the unbelieving nations (Gog and Magog) hitherto ruled by Christ and His resurrected Saints during the Millennium, for the ultimate, mass universal revolt against Christ’s dominion. These will all be consumed with fire from heaven as it was with Sodom and Gomorrah.

Rev 20:7-8 (KJV2000)

(7)  And when the thousand years are ended, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

(8)  And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9. The final damnation of Satan at the Great Throne judgement and the eventual dumping of death, hell and all evil into the lake of fire for ever (Matt 25:41; Rev 20:11-15).

Rev 20:9-10 (KJV2000)

(9)  And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and encircled the camp of the saints, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

(10)  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Chapter 8

POLLUTION FROM DEMONS

WE ARE IN THE LAST DAYS

The Scripture warns that in the Last Days there shall be intensified resurgence of diabolic and antichristian activities as well as false teachings in the church and in the world. The result is either an outright departure from the Faith or syncretistic distortion of the Faith through unbiblical innovations, imaginations, speculations, superstitions, deception, etc.

2Ti 3:1-5 (KJV2000)

(1)  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

(2)  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

(3)  Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

(4)  Traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

(5)  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Act 20:28-32 (ESV)

(28)  Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

(29)  I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;

(30)  and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.

(31)  Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish everyone with tears.

(32)  And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

A. THE DEFILEMENT OF SIN:

Sin is Satan’s snare and snap. Defilement comes when sin and error get hold of one’s heart not when things touch/enter one’s body. This happens when:

1. one is impenitent or indifferent about sin;

2. one is insensitive about backsliding (Backsliding is a gradual loss of interest in Christ, Prayers, Scriptures, Witnessing, Fellowship, Holiness, etc);

3. one is irresolute during temptations;

4. one is impatient or perplexed during afflictions;

5. one is demonised through fornication (Num 25:1-5; 1Cor 6:16-18) or involvement with the occult; and

6. one is desperate about personal ambition or vengeance.

We must avoid all such defiling errors because they usually culminate in sin and separation from God (Isa 59:2-3).

Sin (and even righteousness) begins in the heart and mind. Our actions depict our inner motions.

Luk 6:43-45 (KJV2000)

(43)  For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

(44)  For every tree is known by its own fruit. For from thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

(45)  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Mar 7:20-23 (KJV2000)

(20)  And he said, That which came out of the man, that defiles the man.

(21)  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

(22)  Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

(23)  All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

When we incubate, cherish and harbour defiling purposes in our hearts, we become tempted and so, are propelled to sin (Jas 1:13-16). These inward propensities to sin or TEMPTATIONS can come in various forms:

1.     Sinful desires (erotic lust of the flesh, exotic lust of the eye, arrogant quest for status 1John 2:16);

2.     Evil thoughts (of lascivious and self-defiling immorality, of crooked schemes to cheat and deceive others, of hatred and wickedness to harm others 2Tim 3:1-5);

3.     Alluring or suggestive opportunities (to meet desperate need, to grab cheap popularity, to grab illicit gain Lk 4:1-13; Matt 4:1-11);

4.     Atheistic or doubt provoking perplexities (of questioning God’s ways and even His existence or abandoning godliness to do things our own way Job 21; Ps 37; Ps 73).

Such evil propensities must be quickly dismissed, dissipated, confessed and countered by deliberately biblical choices of prayer, pure thoughts, sound faith and holy practices empowered by the Holy Spirit. When your heart conceives a sin-prone desire or design, do not consent to it, because commitment to it (i.e. intent) or actual commission/committal of such (i.e. offence) will defile you.

Php 4:6-9 (ISV)

(6)  Never worry about anything, but in every situation let your petitions be made known to God in prayers and requests, with thanksgiving.

(7)  Then God's peace, which goes far beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

(8)  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy-keep thinking about these things.

(9)  Likewise, keep practicing these things: what you have learned, received, heard, and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

B. THE ERROR OF ALTERNATIVE ANCHORS:

When one is dissatisfied with, ignorant of or uncommitted to the Faith in Christ, one becomes vulnerable to alternative (occultist, delusive, atheist, philosophic, metaphysical, hedonistic, self-serving, etc) anchors for one’s soul. The human soul cannot keep still without some belief/disbelief anchor.  These defiling and destructive alternatives come in various forms:

1. Apostasy: This means departure from the Faith or espousing another “gospel”, other than that preached and taught by Christ and the Apostles, and other “religions” that cannot save, by giving heed to seducing spirits and their doctrines of demons:

Gal 1:6-9 (KJV2000)

(6)  I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

(7)  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

(8)  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

(9)  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed.

1Ti 4:1-2 (KJV2000)

(1)  Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to deceitful spirits, and doctrines of demons;

(2)  Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.

2. Mysticism and occultism either by consulting or practicing: bloody rituals, divination, soothsaying, augury, horoscopy, sorcery, magic, witchcraft, enchantment, use of charms, mediums, spiritism, necromancy, etc all of which are abominable to God:

Deu 18:9-12 (KJV2000)

(9)  When you are come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

(10)  There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or sorcery, or interprets omens, or is a witch,

(11)  Or casts spells, or is a medium, or a wizard, or consults the dead.

(12)  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD your God does drive them out from before you.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

3. Paganism: This is the foolishness of idolatry which leads to divine reprobation unto vileness of the heart with the resultant plunge into sinful lifestyle:

Rom 1:22-32 (KJV2000)

(22)  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

(23)  And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

(24)  Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:

(25)  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

(26)  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

(27)  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is shameful, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was fitting.

(28)  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not proper;

(29)  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

(30)  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

(31)  Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

(32)  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they who commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

4. Satanism (i.e. the love for lies and hatred for the truth): This defiles and leads to the divine curse of delusion and the consequence of satanic deception to believe a lie: atheism, agnosticism, faith in false demonic signs and wonders, love for unrighteousness and pleasure in doing wickedness:

2Th 2:8-13 (KJV2000)

(8)  And then shall that Wicked One be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the breath of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

(9)  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

(10)  And with all deception of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

(11)  And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

(12)  That they all might be condemned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

(13)  But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

<BACK TO THE TOP>

5. Atheism and Agnosticism (i.e. the great foolishness of doubting or denying the existence of God or spiritualities, while placing self as the ultimate judge of all choices and conscience, and the physical as the only reality).

[To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good.  (Psa 14:1 KJV2000)

2Th 2:2-4 (KJV2000)

(2)  That you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, that the day of the Lord is at hand.

(3)  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come the falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

(4)  Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

C. THE MENACE OF GENEALOGICAL CURSES/COVENANTS:

Family curses and evil covenants inherited from parents, grand parents to the third and fourth generations without repudiation:

Exo 20:1-6 (KJV2000)

(1)  And God spoke all these words, saying,

(2)  I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

(3)  You shall have no other gods before me.

(4)  You shall not make unto yourself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

(5)  You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

(6)  And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Notice that woe and curse do not only come from Anti-Christian opposition and unbelief but also from Anti-Semitic hatred (Gen 27:29).

<BACK TO THE TOP>

D. THE BONDAGE OF DEMON POSSESSION:

This has to do with the state of temporary or protracted invasion or takeover of one’s mind, speech or personality by evil spirits (Lk. 8:27-33). This may be by conscious, voluntary submission to spirits as during séances, or through subtle, unwitting, demonic manipulations.

It is important to note that even subsequent to earlier deliverance or conversion to Christ, DEMONIC POSSESSION could still come by:

1. personal devotion to demons and invocation of demons (and strange unbiblical “angels”) especially through strange prayer forms that have become fascinating to some Christians of late;

2. mediated initiation into demonic cults and dedication to demons as people seek “spiritual” power and protection;

3. unwitting subjection to occult spells and other manipulations through sexual immorality and perversion, syncretistic “Christian” miracle ministry, etc.

E. THE YOKE OF DISSIPATION AND ADDICTION:

The subtle encroachment, entanglement and addiction by licentious dissipations such as alcoholism, smoking, drug addiction, sex addition, violence addition, and other destructive cravings, lusts and indulgences. These start as gradual attraction till they become besetting, uncontrollable entanglements. These demonic influences take over the control of the victims’ emotion, energy and time, preoccupying and exhausting the victims (especially energetic youths), such that God and His Word are edged out of their lives unto enmity toward God (Gal 5:17-21; 1John 2:15-16).

<BACK TO THE TOP>

F. THE DEBILITATION OF AFFLICTIONS:

Afflictions (hindrances, temptations, buffetings, persecutions against the Saints) which intend to test the Saints and if possible, hinder the advancement of the Church of Christ.

Afflictions do not pollute, but if we despair rather than persevere, they may push one to backslide into any of the above pollutions.

1Co 15:57-58 (KJV2000)

(57)  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(58)  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

2Co 6:3-10 (KJV2000)

(3)  Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry be not blamed:

(4)  But in all things presenting ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

(5)  In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;

(6)  By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by love unfeigned,

(7)  By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

(8)  By honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;

(9)  As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

(10)  As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

If the gates of hell could not hold Jesus back from resurrecting to build His Church, the resurrection power at work in the believer shall empower them to smash all hindrances.

Eph 1:18-22 (KJV2000)

(18)  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Chapter 9

DELIVERANCE FROM DEMONS

CHARISMATA AND CHARACTER

Right away, let it be made clear that charismatic manifestations and other phenomena are never certain evidences of genuine faith at any rate. Signs and wonders are possible either with evil spirits or with the Holy Spirit. Manifestations or signs and wonders could be:

1. genuinely given by the Holy Spirit (usually for common good 1Cor 12:7 and common edification (1Cor14:12);

2. masqueraded by Satan (2Thes 2:9);

3. pretended with self-serving intentions (2Cor 11:13-15); or

4. unconsciously induced due to mesmerism, somatisation, sympathy and other psychological factors.

Despite these pitfalls nothing is wrong with expecting or experiencing any manifestation, provided it is genuine. Manifestations or phenomena need not be sought after as sure proofs or faith anchors since this becomes a distraction, they are to follow as God deems fit. Manifestations must not be opposed or despised, but they must be discerned and tested.

1Th 5:19-24 (ISV)

(19)  Do not put out the Spirit's fire.

(20)  Do not despise prophecies.

(21)  Instead, test everything. Hold on to what is good,

(22)  but keep away from every kind of evil.

(23)  May the God of peace himself make you holy in every way. And may your whole being-spirit, soul, and body-be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(24)  The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.

1Jn 4:1-3 (ISV)

(1)  Dear friends, stop believing every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

(2)  This is how you can recognize God's Spirit: Every spirit who acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.

(3)  But every spirit who does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that he is coming, and now he is already in the world.

The only certain proof of what is the Truth is God’s Word and the only certain evidence of the Holy Spirit in one’s life is the Spiritual Fruit of abiding obedience and wholesome conformity to God’s Word; every other thing is not full-proof.

Joh 8:31-32 (KJV2000)

(31)  Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;

(32)  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 15:7-8 (KJV2000)

(7)  If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.

(8)  In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples.

Spiritual Gifts are NOT criteria for heavenly reward but ABILITIES given by the Holy Spirit for helping others. Spiritual Fruit are BOTH criteria for heavenly reward and relational QUALITIES produced by walking in the Holy Spirit. Signs and wonders (i.e. charismata and miracles) are not reliable EVIDENCES or PROOFS of spiritual quality. It is faith and fruit (i.e. convictions and character) that are reliable evidences or proofs of spiritual quality. FRUIT refers to RESPONSIBLE ACTS or WORKS that are the EVIDENCE of one’s convictions and decisions. Signs and wonders are by miraculous powers given to us by Christ for the glory of His Name, so they are a measure of God’s grace and the power of Jesus’ Name. (They can also be a measure of satanic powers 2Thes 2:9). Many who are disqualified by Christ because of their dead faith may still manifest signs and wonders in Jesus’ Name. On the other hand Spiritual Fruit is the measure of the believer’s faithfulness and walk with God. It is the EVIDENCE that beyond merely believing in the Name of Christ, one also abides in the Word of Christ.

Deu 13:1-3 (KJV2000)

(1)  If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,

(2)  And the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke unto you, and he says, Let us go after other gods, which you have not known, and let us serve them;

(3)  You shall not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Mat 7:15-23 (KJV2000)

(15)  Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

(16)  You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

(17)  Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.

(18)  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

(19)  Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

(20)  Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.

(21)  Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

(22)  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out demons? and in your name done many wonderful works?

(23)  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

Jas 2:17-20 (KJV2000)

(17)  Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.

(18)  Yea, a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

(19)  You believe that there is one God; you do well: the demons also believe, and tremble.

(20)  But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Saint James wrote this because during the ministry of Christ many demoniacs confessed His Name in order to bargain for their private gain (Mark 1;24; 3:11; 5:6-8); also during the ministry of the Apostles charlatans confessed the Name of Christ to achieve their private aims (Acts 8:9-24; 16:16-18). So, NOT ALL “CONFESSION OF FAITH” IN CHRIST IS “CONVERSION TO ABIDE” IN CHRIST. True faith in Christ must also imbibe Christ’s Word. The problem of our day is that Apostle Judas Iscariot and the Antichrist have more converts today than Christ and Apostles Peter and Paul put together. But Christ and the Apostles warned us:

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall SHOW GREAT SIGNS AND WONDERS; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Mat 24:24 (KJV2000)

Even him, whose coming is after the WORKING OF SATAN WITH ALL POWER AND SIGNS AND LYING WONDERS,  2Th 2:9 (KJV2000)

Rev 13:13-14 (KJV2000)

(13)  And HE DOES GREAT WONDERS, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

(14)  And deceives them that dwell on the earth by the means of THOSE MIRACLES WHICH HE HAD POWER TO DO in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, that had the wound by a sword, and did live.

FORMS OF DELIVERANCE

Deliverance comes through personally overcoming the devil on our own or by ministerially destroying the works of the devil in the life of others. Every Christian is as of necessity equipped and enjoined to personally overcome the devil and his demons continuously till the end. However, not every Christian shall ministerially destroy the works of the devil for others except those called to minister deliverance by:

1. appointment as ministers representing Christ’s Church;

2. invitation on the confidence of the victims or victims’ relatives (Lk 9:40);

3. direct leading from Christ (Acts 16:18).

To minister deliverance to others usually requires:

1. the spiritual habits of praying and fasting;

2. such spiritual gifts as:

of wisdom and knowledge in the Word of God for demolition of strongholds through biblical counseling;

of revelation and discernment of spirits for spiritual diagnosis;

of powers of exorcism, healings, miracles and faith for declaration of deliverance;

3. certain empirical knowledge of medicine, psychiatry and psychology for scientific analysis of symptoms.

Overcoming the devil personally could be by:

1. Personal Commitment to Christ through Obedience (to submit and draw near) to the Lord Jesus and Steadfastness with the Whole Armour of God (to resist the devil).

2. Personal Conquest over the devil through:

the preeminent power in Jesus’ Name, that brings all things under subjection;

the cleansing of the Blood of Jesus;

their testimony of God’s Word that must come to pass;

their dedicated Lives of readiness to shame the devil and live or die for the Gospel; and

their persistence in the deliverance Prayer “deliver us from evil”.

Mat 28:18 (KJV2000)

(18)  And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Eph 6:10-18 (KJV2000)

(10)  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

(11)  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

(12)  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.

(13)  Therefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

(14)  Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

(15)  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

(16)  Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

(17)  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

(18)  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Php 2:9-11 (KJV2000)

(9)  Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

(10)  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

(11)  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Col 1:12-18 KJV2000

Jas 4:6-10 (KJV2000)

(6)  But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

(7)  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

(8)  Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

(9)  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

(10)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death.  Rev 12:11 (KJV2000)

<BACK TO THE TOP>

Destroying (Terminating) the works of the devil ministerially could be done by:

1. Ministerially Casting-out demons in demonised and possessed persons or haunted property and places,

2. Ministerially Counseling others by using the Word to destroy psychological and psychic strongholds which the devil builds up in people’s minds.

Mat 10:1, 7, 8 (KJV2000)

(1)  And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

 (7)  And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

(8)  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons: freely you have received, freely give.

Luk 1:77-79 (KJV2000)

(77)  To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

(78)  Through the tender mercy of our God; by which the dawn from on high has visited us,

(79)  To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

2Co 10:3-9 (KJV2000)

(3)  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh:

(4)  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)

(5)  Casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(6)  And having a readiness to punish all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

The resurrection and ascension of Jesus to the right hand of power is the sign and proof that what He finished at the Cross is most acceptable to God above everything else on earth, beneath the earth and in heaven. Therefore, in receiving or ministering deliverance from demonic oppression/bondage, there is no need for any exhibitionism or sensationalism, rituals or rites, symbols or spells, objects or formulas, presumptions or pretensions. All that is needed is biblical faith in the abiding presence and power of Jesus and calling on that exalted Name of Jesus according to the Scripture.

HELPFUL STEPS IN PERSONAL DELIVERANCE

There are some measures that are found to be helpful in ensuring personal deliverance. These have been represented here as Denunciation, Dedication, Demolition, Domination and Declaration.

1. Denunciation

Every believer is meant to abhor, condemn and oppose the devil and the things of the world – vainglory, lusts, superstition, crookedness and wickedness. Denunciation involves voicing out that decision to reject and oppose occult involvements, contacts or covenants. This must also include repentance of sin and relenting of grudges we hold against others.

Eph 5:6-13 (ISV)

(6)  Do not let anyone deceive you with meaningless words, for it is because of these things that God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

(7)  So do not be partners with them.

(8)  For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.

(9)  For the fruit of the light consists of every form of goodness, righteousness, and truth.

(10)  Determine what pleases the Lord,

(11)  and have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness. Instead, expose them for what they are.

(12)  For it is shameful even to mention what is done by people in secret.

(13)  But everything that is exposed to the light becomes visible,

1Jn 3:8-10 (KJV2000)

(8)  He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

(9)  Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his nature remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

(10)  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

Eph 2:1-5 (KJV2000)

You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  (Joh 8:44 KJV2000)

2. Dedication

Dedication has to do with the believer’s surrender and commitment to Christ to please Him and let Him live His Life in us. True believers are those who have repented of their sins and through confession obtained remission by the blood of Christ. These must dedicate their lives daily to live for Christ as revealed in the Scriptures. Dedication to Christ brings us close to God but scares the devil away.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.  (Gal 2:20 KJV2000)

Rom 12:1-2 (KJV2000)

(1)  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

(2)  And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Jas 4:4-10 (KJV2000)

(4)  You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

(5)  Do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?

(6)  But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

(7)  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

(8)  Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

(9)  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

(10)  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

3. Demolition

By demolition is meant the pulling down of all psychological and psychic stranglehold of the devil in our minds. Demolition is done by unlearning and disbelieving all erroneous beliefs and deceitful world-views (superstitions and speculations) and replacing them with the immutable truth of divine revelation in the Scripture, about the position and operations of the devil in relation to the position and authority of the believer. This is what this write-up is geared to do.

2Co 10:3-6 (KJV2000)

(3)  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh:

(4)  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)

(5)  Casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(6)  And having a readiness to punish all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

He that has received his testimony has set his seal to this that God is true.  (Joh 3:33 KJV2000)

Demolition also involves the destruction of occult objects by burning, breaking, desecrating, etc. (Act 19:18-19; 2Kin 23:13-16).

4. Domination

Every believer however young or weak in faith and knowledge is equipped and authorised to resist the devil and bring every demonic operation to a halt by the Name of Jesus to which all believers belong. Once we let Christ have a free dominion over our lives, we gain full dominion over all the powers of darkness.

Luk 10:17-22 (KJV2000)

(17)  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us through your name.

(18)  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

(19)  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

(20)  Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

(21)  In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in your sight.

(22)  All things are delivered to me by my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

Php 2:8-11 (KJV2000)

(8)  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

(9)  Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

(10)  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

(11)  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

5. Declaration

Reaffirm your Christ-given freedom and victory to yourself and speak it forth to others. This must issue to a life of resistance to sin and resilience in steadfastness.

1Co 2:12-10 (KJV2000)

(10)  But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.

(11)  For what man knows the things of a man, except the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.

(12)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Col 2:10-15 KJV2000

(10)  And you are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power:

(11)  In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

(12)  Buried with him in baptism, in which also you are risen with him through the faith of the working of God, who has raised him from the dead.

(13)  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he made alive together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

(14)  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

(15)  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

1Jn 5:18-20 (KJV2000)

(18)  We know that whosoever is born of God sins not; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.

(19)  And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.

(20)  And we know that the Son of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

HELPFUL STEPS IN MINISTERING DELIVERANCE

By the way, It is appropriate that the Baptism Service should be a service of

a. proclamation of the Gospel of salvation in Christ,

b. invitation to commitment to Christ and renunciation of sin and the devil,

c. declaration of and prayer for absolution and  deliverance from depravity and demons, then

d. actual baptism and reception into Christ’s Church.

This was the way the ancient Church did it. Deliverance should not be deferred to when the victim deems it necessary. This error has given rise to mixed Christianity of today where demonised ‘Christians’ are church members. The old Church had no demonised member because they took care of demons right at the beginning.

Some steps have been found to be helpful in ministering deliverance. These shall be highlighted here under the headings: Recognition, Reconciliation, Release, and Renewal.

1. Recognition

(i). Realise that dealing with demons is spiritual warfare, therefore do not be a lone ranger nor operate with carnal weapons.

          a. Commune with God,

          b. Communicate with the Church,

c. Cover yourself with the spiritual costume and equipment of the whole armour of God.

(ii). Recognise the demonic in the victim not by mere assumptions but through:

confirmed history of familial or personal involvement and/or

clear symptoms and signs and/or

certain spiritual insight.

2. Reconciliation

(i). Re-examine and reconcile yourself first with Christ and be filled afresh with the Holy Spirit.

(ii). Reconcile the victim with Christ by leading him/her to:

Renunciation of (voicing out the decision to reject and oppose) occult involvements, whether contacts or covenants;

Repentance of besetting iniquities and animosities, indulgences and offences, wickedness and weakness;

Relent of any past or present grudges and animosities against relatives, acquaintances and contacts;

Remission by confessing (and asking for pardon from) every known and unknown sin: whether they are sins of omission, intention or commission; whether due to ignorance, negligence, weakness or deliberateness.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

3. Release

(i). Demolish superstitious strongholds in the mind of the counselee (as above) with the exposition of incontrovertible counsel of the Word of God.

(ii). Deliver (pray for deliverance of) the victim of demonic influence, delusion, disturbance or outright demonic inhabitation or possession, through binding and loosing, casting and decreeing, rebuking and commanding against the demons. This ministry is to be done with the power and authority given by Christ to us, over all the powers of the devil.

Luk 10:17-20 (KJV2000)

(17)  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us through your name.

(18)  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

(19)  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

(20)  Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Deliverance prayer takes the form of intercessory prayer for the victim, with authoritative words of exorcism and execration against the demons, both banishing and banning them in the Name of Jesus Christ (i.e. on behalf of Jesus or in agreement with Jesus – with declarations, convictions and commitments that derive from and accord with all that Jesus stands for, as revealed in Scripture, not merely verbalising the Name of Jesus). Whatever Jesus is, stands for, and has accomplished, is His Name and operating in representation of these is operating in Jesus’ Name, and all authorities in the whole creation are bound by (and are subject to) Jesus whenever He is proclaimed in faith, whether they choose to or not.

Sometimes for emphasis and in order to fully carry the victim and the brethren along, the prayer may need to be repeated. Possessive demons could try to delay or distract or divert the exorcism by initiating a discussion with half truths or a drama; this must be disregarded and the demons authoritatively commanded to be quiet and vacate. Once only, Jesus granted the privilege of discussion to the violent but suppliant Legion demons because they approached and worshipped Him and passionately pleaded in God’s Name for milder exit. For us to escape being deceived and derailed, we must resist the temptation of accepting such worship from or permitting such conversations with demons:

Mar 5:1-13 (KJV2000)

(1)  And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

(2)  And when he came out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

(3)  Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

(4)  Because  he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been wrenched apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man subdue him.

(5)  And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

(6)  But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him,

(7)  And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, that you torment me not.

(8)  For he had said unto him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.

(9)  And he asked him, What is your name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

(10)  And he begged him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

(11)  Now there was there near unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

(12)  And all the demons begged him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

(13)  And Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (there were about two thousand;) and were drowned in the sea.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

Some feel it is necessary to find out a demon’s name in order to cast it out. This is a fallacy for man has the power to name all created beings and things. Asking a demon its name is giving a privilege to such a demon. Demons are known and called by their fruits. Most often Jesus and the Apostles simply cast the demons out without any appellation. On few occasions they used descriptive name for the demons they cast out:

For he had said unto him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.  (Mar 5:8 KJV2000)

When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him, and enter no more into him.  (Mar 9:25 KJV2000)

And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, You are Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them permitted them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.  (Luk 4:41 KJV2000)

And as he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.  (Luk 9:42 KJV2000)

Luk 13:11-13 (KJV2000)

(11)  And, behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no way lift herself up.

(12)  And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.

(13)  And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

(iii). Destroy occult objects by burning, breaking, desecrating, etc.

Act 19:18-19 (KJV2000)

(18)  And many that believed came, and confessed, and told of their deeds.

(19)  Many of them also who used magic arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

2Ki 23:13-16 (KJV2000)

(13)  And the high places that were east of Jerusalem, which were on the south of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

(14)  And he broke in pieces the images, and cut down the idol poles, and filled their places with the bones of men.

(15)  Moreover the altar that was at Beth-el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he broke down, and burned the high place, and crushed it to powder, and burned the idol pole.

(16)  And as Josiah turned, he saw the sepulchers that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchers, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.

(iv). Declare absolution and freedom from all condemnation, contamination and confusion according to God’s Word. This assures the delivered person of the certainty of his/her freedom and pardon for faith comes by hearing God’s Word declared. They need to hear it declared that you are convinced and agree with them that they are healed, that they are free, that they are saved, that they are born again, that they are forgiven, that they are delivered, that they are made whole according to God’s Word. This strengthens faith and ministers grace.

<BACK TO THE TOP>

4. Renewal

According to Christ’s teaching, deliverance without spiritual renewal is creating circumstance for worse bondage:

Luk 11:21-26 (KJV2000)

(21)  When a strong man armed keeps his palace, his goods are in peace:

(22)  But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.

(23)  He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathers not with me scatters.

(24)  When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return unto my house from which I came out.

(25)  And when he comes, he finds it swept and in order.

(26)  Then he goes, and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

It is a necessity to ensure that those who experience deliverance are followed up into a life of spiritual renewal – a life of fullness of the Spirit – which involves:

Constant spiritual fellowship among Bible-believing, Bible teaching, non-syncretistic and Spirit-filled believers who can support them with intercession, biblical counsel and such ministrations till they are fully confident of their standing in the Lord;

They continually devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to times of prayer.  (Act 2:42 ISV)

Heb 10:23-25 (KJV2000)

(23)  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

(24)  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

(25)  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.

Consistent motivation to spiritual growth through personal Bible Study and Prayer.

With prayers and deep desires, making requests at all times in the Spirit, and keeping watch, with strong purpose, in prayer for all the saints,  (Eph 6:18 BBE)

1Th 5:16-24 (KJV2000)

(16)  Rejoice evermore.

(17)  Pray without ceasing.

(18)  In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

(19)  Quench not the Spirit.

(20)  Despise not prophesying.

(21)  Test all things; hold fast that which is good.

(22)  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

(23)  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(24)  Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.

1Pe 2:1-3 (ISV)

(1)  Therefore, rid yourselves of every kind of evil and deception, hypocrisy, jealousy, and every kind of slander.

(2)  Like newborn babies, thirst for the pure milk of the word so that by it you may grow in your salvation.

(3)  Surely you have tasted that the Lord is good!

Readiness to share Christ’s Gospel and to testify of God’s power at work in their lives;

Rev 12:9-11 (KJV2000)

(9)  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Resilient resistance against the devil and all appearances of evil. The devil operates by cunning disguise and confusion about the truth. Though he operates with power, he usually has no guts to face resistance head-on. The devil will always retreat and flee when confronted with resistance, albeit temporally.

Mat 4:10-11 (ESV)

(10)  Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"

(11)  Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

Luk 4:12-13 (ESV)

(12)  And Jesus answered him, "It is said, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

(13)  And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  (Jas 4:7 ESV)

DOXOLOGY

With Jesus joy let us give all glory and praise to God for revealing to us in the Scriptures, all things necessary for us to overcome and triumph over the devil and his demons in the Name of Jesus Christ. Above all, let Jesus be praised, for He has registered us in heaven.

Luk 10:17-24 (KJV2000)

(23)  And he turned to his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see:

(24)  For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which you see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which you hear, and have not heard them.

1. I have seen, seen, the downfall of Satan:

Glory be to God, glory be to Jesus;

I have seen, seen, the downfall of Satan:

Glory be to God, Amen.

        When I look at my right, I see Satan has fallen.

        When I look at my left, I see Satan has fallen.

        When I look at my front, I see Satan has fallen.

        When I look at my back, I see Satan has fallen.

I have seen, seen, the downfall of Satan:

Glory be to God, glory be to Jesus;

I have seen, seen, the downfall of Satan:

Glory be to God, Amen.

2. I have seen, seen, the victory of Jesus:

Glory be to God, glory be to Jesus;

I have seen, seen, the victory of Jesus:

Glory be to God, Amen.

        When I look at my right, I see Jesus has conquered.

        When I look at my left, I see Jesus has conquered.

        When I look at my front, I see Jesus has conquered.

        When I look at my back, I see Jesus has conquered.

I have seen, seen, the victory of Jesus:

Glory be to God, glory be to Jesus;

I have seen, seen, the victory of Jesus:

Glory be to God, Amen.
